went to college and took up two majors and those were Human Biology and Physics. He likes these two majors but he was more inclined into the medical field which he later pursued and became a doctor. When he was still a child, he was born in North Dakota and was raised there by his parents. It was a humble beginning but that didn’t stop him from reaching for his dreams. He studied in Minot High School before going to college. After college he went to Harvard Medical School then went to UCLA for his 5 year residence specializing in general surgery where he had his residency in their Medical Center. He also worked for different hospitals such as Olive View Medical Centerand many others.
Dr. Loren Borud started doing research when he was at UCLA where he spent 2 more years on research & development for Plastic Surgery. Here is where he was able to learn so much more about plastic surgery and his interest for this specialization grew. Following this 2 years in R&D he trained for 3 more years in the specialization of Plastic surgery and in Hand Microsurgery. Because of his training for these two specializations he was hired by more hospitals such as the Bellevue Hospital, Tisch and the Mount Sinai hospital.
For a plastic surgeon such as it is important to belong to medical boards. This is earned as you need to have a certification from them to make sure that you qualify to be a member and Dr. Borud got his certification from two medical boards and these boards are the American Board for Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is also a member of the American Society for Plastic Surgeons and for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. It’s a prestige to become a member of these high-profiled medical societies.
But that’s not all that Dr. Borud is busy with as he’s also a writer and a consultant. He owns his own company the Borud Consulting and he wrote Plastikonomics, a book those talks about the economics angle of plastic surgery and many other publications talking about Plastic Surgery. He also had his MBA degree before he put up his own consultancy firm. He was also an assistant professor in Harvard Medical School for 8 years where he teaches med students about his expertise in plastic surgery and also gives them advices regarding the specialization.
